Consumer spending has been strong in 2023 despite higher prices and waning savings, but some retailers are worried the big discounts and other enticements to lure shoppers to stores may not be enough. But those worries may not impact Charleston retailers as thousands prepare for Black Friday shopping in the area.
Tanger Outlets in North Charleston kicked off its Black Friday at 6 a.m. with some of its deepest discounts all year, according to a Tanger Outlet representative. Other bix box stores like Walmart, Target and Lowe’s also kicked off the day at 6 a.m. for holiday shoppers.
While Black Friday may be today, many of the sales started early and will continue past the holiday to give customers optimal shopping opportunities.
