Reports taken from Jan. 6 to Jan. 7
As per usual …
Charleston police on Jan. 6 responded to a shoplifting at a King Street grocery store where a man allegedly stuffed “several packs” of meat and frozen shrimp in his jacket and canned goods into a bag before making a run for the exit. It’s a little late for a holiday dinner party, but we’d still like an invite.
Five stars
A North Charleston Lyft driver told North Charleston police one of his passengers on Jan. 6 was talking on the phone about selling “three kilos of dope.” The driver reportedly finished the drive, taking the passenger to his destination, despite his concerns about criminal activity. Guess he was really working those tips.
Bad timing
Someone reportedly stole a bicycle from an East Bay Street residence on Jan. 7, according to Charleston police. While there’s never a good time to have your bike stolen, there appears to be worse times to steal a bike, as two days after the theft, Charleston dealt with some pretty severe rain. Somebody should have stolen a paddleboat.
‘A good drink’
Charleston police on Jan. 6 questioned a man on East Bay Street about suspected public intoxication. The man told police he had “had a good drink,” shortly before losing his balance and falling over, effectively ending the need for officer’s to question him further.
