Reports taken from Jan. 6 to Jan. 21

‘A large quantity,’ indeed

A West Ashley man on Jan. 6 reportedly stole “a large quantity” of tape measures from a Magwood Boulevard hardware store. The total value of stolen items was about $1,531. Normally, we can learn a lot about a person by what they shoplift, but in this case, we came away with more questions than answers.

A hard sell

North Charleston police on Jan. 21 arrested a North Charleston man after receiving several reports about him running nude through a Goer Drive hotel’s hallways. He reportedly told police he would go into his room to get dressed, but later answered the door for officers (wait for it) still nude.

A really vague BOLO

A North Charleston man on Jan. 19 reported to North Charleston police that someone stole his “internet box” the night before. Police were able to identify the exact model of router stolen, but we like to imagine this man describes all of his appliances as “boxes.” TV? Picture box. Microwave? Hot box. Refrigerator? Cold box.

Aspiring home photographers

A Mount Pleasant couple told the town’s police on Jan. 15 that they had noticed their neighbor walking up their driveway and hiding in the bushes to take pictures of their house. Look, walking up other people’s driveways to take pictures of their house is a little suspicious, but hiding in the bushes? Too far.

Hide and seek champions

North Charleston police on Jan. 21 shut down a party at a Morris Baker Boulevard apartment for excessive noise, but when leaving, police noticed roughly 20 people hiding on the apartment balcony instead of leaving the property as officers advised. They were so close.
