This year’s keynote speakers

The 2024 keynote speakers are Danny Caine, author and co-owner of the Raven Book Store, in Lawrence, Kan., and Clarenda “Cee” Stanley, CEO and president of Green Heffa Farms, a regenerative farm located in Liberty, N.C.

Attendees will learn about Farmer Clarenda Stanley’s journey into organic farming. Summit organizers said, “Emerging from a rich lineage deeply entrenched in agrarian traditions within Alabama’s Black Belt, Cee‘s journey into organic farming began with the co-founding of Green Heffa in 2018. Since then, the farm has achieved the distinction of becoming the nation’s premier Black-owned farm to earn the Certified B Corp credential, a recognition denoting its commitment to social and environmental responsibility.”

And hear a keynote lecture by Caine, co-owner of the Raven Book Store, Publishers Weekly’s 2022 bookstore of the year. In 2019, he received the Midwest independent bookstore association’s Midwest bookseller of the year award.

He’s the author of two works of nonfiction: “How to Resist Amazon and Why” and “How to Protect Bookstores and Why,” as well as the poetry collections “Continental Breakfast,” “El Dorado Freddy’s,” “Flavortown” and “Picture Window.”
