This week marks the beginning of spring — and local strawberries, ahem, are ripe for the picking. While the South Carolina Department of Agriculture marks April as the beginning of strawberry season, some area farms are already boasting a sweet, juicy robust crop.
For example, Wabi Sabi Farm, located about an hour north of downtown Charleston, opened up its U-pick fields in Berkeley County this week. Drive down a quiet gravel driveway in Cordesville until you see the farm’s unofficial mascots, two Texas Longhorns named Woolly Bully and Norman.
Grab a basket and fill it to the top for $20. Be sure to ask owners Jimmy and Johnna Livingston what other fruits and vegetables they may have available, too.
