Pollen is everywhere in Charleston lately, covering cars and irritating allergies | photo by Andy Brack

A Charleston-area weather forecaster says the year’s annual pollen dump is over thanks to a electrostatic low area of pressure that pushed through Sunday night.

“A front filled with ionized anti-pollen particles attracted and absorbed the pollen that has plagued the Lowcountry over the last few weeks,” meteorologist Bill Fowler reported this morning. “Expect a clear, crisp, sunny day Monday during which you can breathe the air deeply without worrying about your brain exploding from allergies.”

The fortuitous weather forecast presaged what may be an even better outlook for the summer.

“According to projections, this summer in Charleston will be mild with temperatures never going above 84 degrees and humidity at a stable 50%,” the American Weather Association said in a special statement for the South Carolina coast.  “Beach days will be ideal.  And even better – no traffic is expected.”

In some places, officials said beer would be free.

By the way, it’s April Fool’s Day.
