The Co-Op Frose and Eatery’s tenth location, Holy City, is now open at 81 Cannon Street. The popular cafe, owned by Jess Patterson, has been available at Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. for several years now, but this is the business’s first official downtown location.
The Holy City location features the Co-Op’s standard menu — espresso, smoothies, sandwiches and over 50 flavors of frosé — and the team is working on a dinner menu. For now, you can order burgers and fries on Friday and Saturday nights. This spot also has a liquor license, and a liquor and wine menu is available nightly at 5 p.m.
The Co-Op opened on Sullivan’s Island in 2012 and the frosé has been flowing for eager crowds ever since. In a 2021 Swig profile on the Co-Op, writer Connor Simmonson summed up the spot’s popularity: “For many of the Co-Op faithful, it’s not just about getting a sandwich to-go or picking up a magnum of frosé for the pool party. The shop invites customers to be part of the Co-Op community, as long as they like to make fun of anything and everything along with the staff.”
Patterson is known for his quirky Instagram posts — City Paper covered his particular brand of humor during the pandemic, when the frosé frenzy reached an all-time high for folks fiending for the good stuff during lockdown. You can follow Patterson’s personal page for his “uncensored” take on running a business, or just check out the Co-Op’s main page for updates on the new spot’s menu.
The Holy City Co-Op Frose & Eatery is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
