A September full of Oktoberfest brews

It’s officially Oktoberfest season abroad and around town. 

Two Blokes hosts Blōktoberfest from noon to 10 p.m. on Sept. 14. Join the brewery for the annual release of its Oktoberfest beer, special Blōktoberfest steins (available until sold out), a stein-holding competition, best dressed contest, live music, soft pretzels and more. Low Tide Brewing hosts its Oktoberfest from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 21. Gift cards will be awarded to the winners of the stein-hoisting and best dressed competitions and guests can order food from Braised and Glazed from noon to 8 p.m. There will be custom steins of Low Tide’s Prost Y’all Festbier, too. Freehouse Brewery hosts an Oktoberfest celebration from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 21, complete with live music, a costume contest and a stein holding competition. Buy a ceramic German stein to really seal the deal. Learn more online at freehousebeer.com.

Frothy Beard Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest kicks off at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 22. The brewery will serve festive food specials and German beers like a Marzen, Hefeweizen and Kolsch (with the option to buy a Frothy beer stein). Holy City Brewing and The Brew Cellar host the third annual Park Circle Oktoberfest starting at 11 a.m. on Sept. 21 at Holy City Brewing. Tickets are $10 and kids under 12 get in free. Enjoy German beer and food specials and if you really want a “real beer hall experience,” buy a ticket ($50/adult, $20/kid) to the festivities in The Porter Room, which will be transformed into a German beer hall. Fam’s Brewing Co. hosts Hoptoberfest from noon to 5 p.m. on Sept. 21. Now in its sixth year, this celebration features a lineup of games like the beer puppet challenge, stein-hoisting competition, blindfolded pretzel toss and polka musical chairs. The Refinery (not technically a brewery, but home to craft beer collective, The Whale) hosts an Oktoberfest celebration from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 28 with live German music, German inspired food and contests.
