MORNING HEADLINES  |  Outer Banks creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke announced in a letter addressed to fans of the Netflix  show that it will end after its next season. Part two of season four starts today.

The television show became a global sensation during its run on the streaming platform. The first part of season four debuted at No. 1 in the Global Top 10 English TV list on Oct. 10. From the beginning, the creators said they knew how the series would end, down to the final scene.

“Seven years ago, it seemed impossible that we would really get to tell the whole five-season story, but here we are, at the end of our fourth season, still chopping away,” the letter reads. “Now, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting season four behind us, and are turning to season five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago. Season five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet.”

The Lowcountry has been home to several of the iconic shots from the show, from Crosby’s Fish & Shrimp Company on Oak Island to the Circular Congregational Church on Meeting Street.
