[UPDATE, 8/23/25: Due to bad weather, the Family Reunion will now place at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. All showtimes and ticket prices are the same. Tickets purchased for the Firefly Distillery shows will be honored.]

Musician Marcus King is from just up the road in Greenville. But you might actually know him better as the hottest blues guitarist in the country. And he’ll be hosting a two-day party with some pals Aug. 23 and 24 at North Charleston’s Firefly Distillery.

His “family reunion” festival  will feature sets from the Marcus King Band, Grammy-award-winning bluegrass singer/guitarist Molly Tuttle, country star Jamey Johnson, popular indie-folk act Hiss Golden Messenger and others.

The show began in 2007 as a simple evening of picking tunes with friends. Last year’s edition featured The Avett Brothers and Band of Horses.

King’s band will preview songs from its new album, “Darling Blue,” scheduled for release in September. The album comes after a series of successes for King.

His first two releases, “Carolina Confessions” and “The Marcus King Band,” hit the Top Five on the Billboard blues charts. He performed at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado and was nominated for a Grammy award for his album “El Dorado.” He also recorded 2022’s ‘Young Blood” with The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.

And he did all of that before hitting 30.

Some proceeds from the reunion go to King’s Curfew Foundation, which seeks to  create a support system for musicians who are battling mental health challenges and addiction while on the road.

IF YOU WANT TO GO:  Aug. 23 and 24, North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Ticket packages range from $81 to $330: fireflydistillery.com
