MORNING HEADLINES  |  Berkeley and Dorchester counties will get $9 billion in investment from Google as it expands a data center and builds two new sites.

The Monday announcement is focused on “strengthening the state’s role as a critical hub for American infrastructure,” the company said Monday.

The investment will allow the company to expand its data center in Berkeley County and support continued construction of two sites in Dorchester County.  The facilities will expand the company’s cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure, too.

“Google’s continued investment in South Carolina strengthens our position as a national leader in technology and innovation,” Gov. Henry McMaster said in a published report. “Our longstanding partnership with Google has created countless opportunities for our people, and will continue to open new doors for growth and success.”
