Patriots Point Throwback Day

Help the team behind Patriots Point kicks off its year-long 50th anniversary tribute event. Admission on Saturday will be just $2 per person, the original ticket price from the historic site’s opening day in 1976, making it the perfect time to visit and join in on the fun. Be among the first to explore a brand-new exhibit that tells the story of how the museum began.

Artist-in-Residence Exhibition: Jennifer York

In her exhibit, Ode to Joy, North Charleston’s October-December 2025 artist-in-residence Jennifer York presents papercuts and intricate dioramas crafted from vintage suitcases
and mirrors. The gallery invites viewers into her luminous world of paper, line and light
— where beauty and storytelling intertwine. A free public reception will be held from

The Brett Belanger Trio at Forte

Brett Belanger is a highly accomplished and sought after bassist leading this trio of A-list musicians with Abdiel Iriarte on piano and Ron Wiltrout on drums. Together, they cover great American jazz standards as well as more contemporary material from the bebop era. From time to time, they include some of their own compositions. Come in for a relaxing night listening to great performances.

Lighthouse Inlet Bird Walk

Once the home of a Coast Guard station, the Lighthouse Inlet preserve protects maritime forest, beach, dune and marsh habitats for wildlife. This site boasts one of the largest bird lists in South Carolina. At this time of year, guests can see a variety of songbirds, seabirds and shorebirds such as painted buntings, sandwich terns, whimbrels and more.

Mexican move: Maya del Sol Kitchen, the North Charleston restaurant from Chef Raul Sanchez, is moving to a new location at the Starlight Motor Inn at 3245 Rivers Ave. Slated to open in early February, expect to see the same menu of Mexican classics, five-course special dinners and international themes like French or Moroccan nights.

Two nights only: Orlando Pagán of Wild Common and Joe Cash of Greenville’s Scoundrel are coming together for a two-night collaborative dinner series. The first dinner will take place on Jan. 13 at Scoundrel, followed by a second dinner on Jan. 29 at Wild Common. Each event will present the same jointly crafted tasting menu, reflecting both chefs’ mutual focus on technique, seasonality and a guest-centered experience.
