MORNING HEADLINES  |  Gov. Henry McMaster on Wednesday declared a state of emergency for the state ahead of what is expected to be a serious weekend winter storm, particularly for the Upstate.

While the bulk of the storm is expected to impact 200 million Americans north of South Carolina, the Upstate faces icy roads, cold, sleet and some snow, forecasters say.

While Lowcountry and coastal impacts are less clear, forecasters say it will be cold and to expect the possibility of freezing rain and ice on Saturday night through Sunday morning.  Now is the time to prepare.  Also more info here.

Meanwhile, the American Red Cross in South Carolina says it needs people to donate blood as supplies are at critically low levels.
