What are the odds?

North Charleston police on Feb. 13 watched as a car drove past with its airbags still deployed and its front bumper dragging on the pavement. Police (correctly) guessed that the car had just been in a hit-and-run and found the other vehicle that was involved about a mile back. They also arrested the fleeing driver. A+, eagle-eyed detective work, folks!

Yep, good call

Mount Pleasant police on Feb. 13 pulled over a speeding car whose driver admitted to not having a license. Officers said they’d work with him since he was being honest, but the man said it was going to be difficult, since he was a habitual traffic offender. Officers confirmed the status and, sadly, arrested the man and had the car towed.

Rather beetle-headed, aye?

Charleston police on Feb. 15 responded to a King Street bar after receiving a call about two men “engaged in a bout of fisticuffs,” according to a police report. Forget the rest, we’re just going to put you through the mill for your flash language ‘til you’re up in the boughs. It leaves us kedge, it does! Yeah, yeah — one of the guys ran off and the other was arrested, or something.

False alarm

A North Charleston man on Feb. 13 parked his car outside a Centre Pointe Drive restaurant, but quickly called the cops on his return. He told officers his backpack, containing an iPad, a cell phone and a Nintendo game, was missing from his car. Hours after making the report, however, the bag was found where he left it — back at work.

Give it a week

Two West Ashley women on Feb. 9 reportedly stole two bottles of Don Julio tequila worth about $160 from a Savannah Highway liquor store. The investigation is ongoing, but our advice: Just wait for next week’s Blotter. Two bottles of Don Julio is enough to get just about anybody featured here for some reason or another.
