Gaslight at PURE

A locked attic. Footsteps in the dead of night. A gaslight that flickers just long enough to make you doubt your own eyes. PalmettoPride is launching the 2026 S.C. Sweep this Saturday, aiming to take action against litter and help keep the area beautiful. Duckworth Gallery grand opening

Gator tales

Head out to the Caw Caw Interpretive Center in search of alligators to separate fact from fiction and learn why these large reptiles carry the special title of “keystone species.” Learn about fascinating behaviors and features and how to keep yourself and alligators safe. Trails are natural surfaces and flat, and benches are located along the program route for short rests.

GOING DARK

Mount Pleasant’s Annie’s Hot Donuts will close its doors after service on March 22. The business opened in 2017 and the owners shared that the shop is closing as a result of the landlord selling the building.

Prophet Coffee will close in April at 194 Jackson St. after less than six months. The North Charleston location remains open at 4427 Spruill Ave.

WHAT’S NEW

New Indian: Curry Palace, from the team behind Taste of India, has opened at 652 St. Andrews Blvd., in the former La Bonne Franquette space. Focused on the culinary tradition of northern Indian cuisine, the menu features dishes cooked in a clay fire oven and an excellent lunch deal. The restaurant is open daily except for Tuesdays, and serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Waterfront dining: The Indigo Road Hospitality Group will open Riva Mare, a rooftop restaurant at Navy Yard Charleston, this summer. Set atop Storehouse Nine overlooking the Cooper River’s working waterfront, Riva Mare’s menu will celebrate coastal Italian cooking with a focus on fresh, local seafood, crudos, whole roasted fish, house-made pestos and rich olive oils. More waterfront dining: The Crossing, the signature restaurant at The Cooper from Beemok Hospitality Collection, will open on March 30 at 176 Concord St. Led by Executive Chef Nick Dugan, whose work at Sorelle earned a Michelin recommendation, the restaurant will feature a Mediterranean-inspired menu with views of Charleston Harbor. The beverage program is led by Cameron Nadler, formerly of the acclaimed Polo Bar in New York City.
