Reports taken from March 21 to March 29

Guess it didn’t work out

A West Ashley woman reportedly stole nearly $2,000 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets from a Sam Rittenberg Boulevard gas station she worked at between March 17 and March 23. The store manager called Charleston police with video footage showing the theft and said she had already fired the employee, who still showed up to work the same day. Should have just taken cash.

He said, she said

North Charleston police on March 27 arrested a man after noticing they had a TV and several other electronic devices powered in their vehicle by a cord connecting to a nearby store on Remount Road. The occupants told officers that the manager of the store allows them to use the business’ electricity. When officers went to check, however, the manager said they’ve told those guys multiple times not to use their power.

Wrong answer

Charleston police on March 21 stopped to talk with an apparently drunken man walking unsteadily along Montague Court. Officers offered him a ride home to keep him out of trouble, but he declined, insisting instead that he was walking “to the bar” to get another drink. Police arrested him for public intoxication, and he got that free ride anyway, just not back home.

Two can play that game

Charleston police on March 25 stopped to break up two people in a fight in a Cumberland Street alley. When asked who started the fight, both pointed the finger at each other, and since they were both too drunk to coherently explain what happened, officers opted to arrest them both for disorderly conduct. Yeah, that makes sense.
