Shark tooth sleuthing on Folly
Join an experienced naturalist to search for shark teeth and other beach artifacts. Discuss shark adaptations and biology while learning the secrets to finding shark teeth. Accessible parking, accessible restrooms, and accessible water fountains are available near the Dunes House where the program begins and ends. An accessible route to a natural sand beach is present, and beach wheelchairs are available for checkout on a first come, first served basis.

Sip and Shop Market
Shop at over 40 local craft vendors while drinking great beer and listening to live music from local favorites. Held in spring and fall on the second Saturday of the month, this seasonal market brings dozens of makers, artisans, brewers and more together for a one-stop shop for all your drinking and shopping needs. AWARD SEASON
The James Beard Foundation announced its 2026 Chef Award Nominees and two Charleston favorites made the list. Merci is a finalist in the Best New Restaurant category and Welton’s Tiny Bakeshop is on the list for Outstanding Bakery. Winners will be revealed at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony June 15 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Say Grace: Food for Thought in Hospitality, a podcast hosted by Indigo Road Hospitality Group’s Steve Palmer, earned distinction in the Best New Podcast Category at the Webby Awards. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, the Webby Awards is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet.
WHAT’S NEW
Swanky sweets: Swank Desserts, located at 110 South Cedar St. in Summerville, will open Swank Creamery in an adjoining unit later this year. The new space will serve ice cream, espresso and an expanded cookie offering. Swank Desserts began as an online bakery in 2015 and opened the brick-and-mortar shop in 2019.

Brew party: Chucktown Brewdown: Homebrew Festival will take place for the seventh time from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 18. The 2026 edition returns to Fam’s Brewing Co. at 1291 Folly Road and features 20 homebrewing teams from across the Lowcountry. The festival will also feature live music from Reverse Cowgirl, lawn games and food. The event is open to guests 21 and older. Cost: GA tickets are $15 in advance and $30 at the door, subject to availability.

Sama-sama series: Kultura has announced the return of its guest chef dinner series, Sama-Sama, at its new location at 267 Rutledge Ave. Collaborations include Chef Lana Lagomarsini from New York City’s Lana Cooks on April 29, Chef Jeff Chanchaleune from Oklahoma City’s Ma Der Laoon on May 20, Gustavo Romero from Minneapolis’s Oro by Nixta on June 24 and Chef Masako Morishita from Washington, D.C.’s Perry’s on July 15.
