MORNING HEADLINES  |  The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in South Carolina rose 13.3 cents over the last week, reaching $4.11 as of Monday, according to a new GasBuddy survey. That’s 30.2 cents higher than a month ago and $1.44 more expensive than this time last year.

The pain at the pump may not be over soon.  “Should geopolitical tensions escalate further, fuel prices could rise even more sharply in the weeks ahead,” said GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan.

In Charleston County, the average price per gallon of gas sits just below the state average at $4.07, according to AAA data.  The cheapest price in the state was $3.76 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

The average price of gas across the nation also increased since last week, climbing 5.1 cents to $4.48 per gallon, $1.40 higher compared to a year ago.

Meanwhile globally, as the struggle between the U.S. and Iran continues, oil prices climbed above $105 per barrel Tuesday.
