The Strawberry Moon is rising over Folly Beach this weekend, and things are getting a little juicy. Salt Marsh BioDiscovery

Learn about the importance of the salt marsh and the creatures that live within it in this hands-on citizen-science project made possible through a partnership with South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium. This opportunity to learn about the wildlife that calls Edisto Island home is recommended for participants age 10 and up. Guests can register online for this weekly event held every Tuesday.

Jump for J.O.Y. at IAAM’s Juneteenth on the Yard

The International African American Museum (IAAM) presents its signature Juneteenth celebration, J.O.Y. — Juneteenth on the Yard, from noon to 5 p.m. June 19. A vibrant center for joy, reflection, culture and community, this free event commemorates the 1865 news of emancipation reaching the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas.

Space for fish: 167 Sushi Bar is moving to 5 Cumberland St. in early 2027 into a larger space that will accommodate more diners and will offer a Japanese-inspired cocktail program, sushi and izakaya. The current space at 289 East Bay St. will remain a part of the group’s portfolio. Expect an announcement later this year on plans for the East Bay spot.

Hideaway haunt: The team behind Azur Charleston has opened a new concept, Le Bistro by Azur, a candlelit hideaway next to the original restaurant at 159 Market St. The once private space is open to the public every Friday and Saturday evening on a walk-in-only basis. The menu offers French-inspired small plates, a curated wine list and inventive cocktails.

Cuisine reimagined: The Lowline Hotel, a reimagination of the former Hyatt Place Charleston Historic District at 560 King St., will introduce several food and beverage concepts. Leeward Restaurant and Patio will be a Lowcountry-inspired dining destination, Lowline Spirited Coffee and Provisions will feature local offerings, the Long Game at Leeward will be a golf simulator lounge and Pour Taproom will be a rooftop concept with more than 70 craft beers. The reopening is slated for July 15.

Mas Mexican: Xolo, the Oaxacan pop-up from Asheville-based Luis Martinez that occupied the former Kultura space in November 2025, will return to Charleston on Father’s Day with a takeover at the Archer at 601 Meeting St. The June 21 popup will host a full day of brunch and dinner service.
