Remember last October, when power-trio Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake, and son Silas graced Charleston with their presence? The family was spotted taking photos with fans in Summerville, visiting the USS Yorktown, even doing as the locals do and ordering some sandwiches from local favorite, Five Loaves Cafe. The reason behind their idyllic family vacation is much more interesting than what type of bread JT likes his roast beef sandwich on (it’s multigrain, for the record); Biel is returning to a regular television role after a 15 year hiatus, and Charleston is serving as the backdrop.
The show, mysteriously named, The Sinner, is based on Petra Hammesfahrโs novel of the same name, and airs tonight at 10 p.m. on USA network. Based on what the trailer tells us, itโs a far cry from โ7th Heavenโ; a woman (Biel) erupts into a fit of rage and violently stabs a stranger to death on a beach full of witnesses. Rather than focus on whodunit, the eight-episode series concentrates on what caused Bielโs character to snap, featuring Bill Pullman as the veteran detective on the case. While it canโt promise the scintillating drama of Southern Charm, The Sinner does tease beautiful snapshots of familiar scenery, and the welcome return of Bielโs television acting career. USA Network states that it will be a closed-ended series, but we canโt help but hope that the family will return to the Lowcountry, if only just for those sandwiches.
