New restaurant alert: Azul Mexicano is now open in Park Circle.

We first reported on Azul Mexicano, located in the building formerly known as Park Circle Athletic Club, this May. The restaurant officially opened this past weekend at 1078 E. Montague Ave., and we snagged a menu on a trip earlier this week. The choices are, well, seemingly endless.

The menu includes standard appetizer choices (think chips and salsa, nachos, queso, guac) plus ceviche, calamari, and stuffed jalapenos; a variety of soups, salads, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, tortas, and fajitas in the entree section; plus a long list of “Azul Specialities” and “From the Grill” items. You could be stranded here for days and still not try everything on the menu. (See below for more.)

And don’t worry, a whole separate menu of margs, cocktails, and cervezas awaits.

As far as being (ostensibly) similar to Park Circle neighbor YoBo Cantina Fresca, when we chatted with owner Armando Navarro in May, he said “YoBo Cantina is so different than what we’re offering,” going on to compare EVO and Park Pizza, two pizza joints who both thrive within a stone’s throw of each other.
