Thanks to local greenie Jennifer Mathis and some visionary local businesses (like City Paper and Coastal Expeditions), you can get a free reusable grocery bag and stop wasting energy and resources on disposable bags. Jennifer hit on this idea last year, signed up as many businesses as she could, printed up a bunch of the bags, and handed them out at Whole Foods for free. Her goal? Making change happen, one bag at a time. It’s a good illustration of how one person can make a difference and raise awareness about our disposable society. Even if you didn’t grab a bag, at least you felt a little bit guilty the next time you answered that annoying question.
