COVID-19 updates: South Carolina health officials reported 784 new cases of coronavirus on Friday, with 18 additional confirmed deaths.

With 6,398 tests collected, the percent-positive rate was 12.3%.

As of 4:57 p.m. Oct. 23, via S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control:
Confirmed cases in S.C.:  161,232 (+784)
Positive tests in Charleston County (total): 16,912 (+49)
Negative tests in S.C.: 1,676,902
Deaths in S.C. from COVID-19: 3,545 (+18)
