Redux Contemporary Art Center has hired a new director of development.
Kaminer Haislip, chairwoman of Redux’s board of directors, said Thursday that Kyle LaGette has accepted an offer to take on the newly established position. She begins in August.
In September, she will serve as development director as well as interim executive director until a new top administrator has been hired. The board plans to fill the position by the first week of November, Haislip said. The regional search for a new director is set to begin Monday.
News of LaGette’s hiring comes a month after Seth Curcio announced he would be resigning as executive director of Redux after nearly three years. Curcio oversaw a transition period in which Redux, compelled by market forces like rent, developed into a growing professional nonprofit. His resignation is effective on Sept. 5.
The new director is expected to continue the course set by Curcio, Haislip said, only now, with a development director, he or she will be freed from the burden of fundraising and philanthropy.
“The development director will lighten the load so that the director can focus on programming, educational outreach, and quality exhibitions,” Haislip said.
