New Jersey resident Freddie Hoffman is heading to Florida in his 30th long-distance bike ride. He told a reporter yesterday that he has his eyes set on Charleston.
Hoffman said he hoped to reach a cousin’s home in Charleston, S.C., within a few days. He said he looked forward to trading the narrow shoulders of country highways for an amenity on a new bridge in the coastal city — a bicycle lane.
We covered other long-distance cyclists hitting the pavement back in April. My advice for Hoffman: hydrate. Like, a lot.
