Home Team BBQโ€™s downtown location will host its 11th annual Gimme Shelter event Thursday, May 20, marking the first time the restaurant has hosted a live music event since the onset of the pandemic. The Hawaiian-inspired shindig will benefit Operation Home, a Charleston-based nonprofit that serves over 450 local families each year through critical home repairs, wheelchair ramp and heat and cold relief programs.ย

This yearโ€™s event will feature a โ€œLuauโ€ theme, meaning Home Teamโ€™s staff will be dressed for the occasion, and the kitchen will churn out specials like Spam sliders and slow-cooked whole hog.

โ€œPut on your grass skirts and get ready to hula!โ€ Home Team wrote on Instagram. โ€œWeโ€™re proud to support our neighbors in these important efforts to create home, health and hope for Tri-county families.โ€

Your $85 ticket includes appetizers, the main course and access to the open bar, which will feature tiki cocktails. And when Junco Partner hits the outdoor stage, it will be an important step in the right direction for the restaurant, which has been unable to host musicians during the pandemic. Live music has been a key part of the experience at Home Teamโ€™s downtown location since it first hosted blues artist Eric Colberson shortly after opening in 2016.

Tickets can be purchased online or by calling (843) 212-8936. For more information, visit operationhome.org.
