Local horror-punk three-piece The Monsters from Outer Space is back in action Friday at Tin Roof, in honor of the release of the new album, Stench of Death. The band will be supported by fellow Charleston-based punk rockers Guardians’ Warlock and Coffin Slide.
The Monsters of Outer Space, aka The MOFOS, is comprised of Dr. Frankfurter on lead vocals and bass, Jaysus Rockso on lead guitar and Wolf Wolfenstein on drums.
The band is ready to deliver its signature face-melting sounds. According to Frankfurter, the new songs off Stench of Death are โfast-paced and driving.โ
Listeners can even expect to hear nods in a slightly new direction: โWe have a couple of tracks on the album that ended up having more of a metal sound,”he said. “Weโre playing a whole lot faster. Weโre including a hidden track from a forthcoming album, where weโre planning on switching up our roles in the band and coming up with different music from there.”
Monsters hasnโt played with Guardians’ Warlock since the pre-pandemic times, so the show will be a reunion. โAll of the people who show up [at Tin Roof] are always energetic, and itโs just our type of atmosphere,โ Frankfurter said.
Coffin Slide, an up-and-coming group in the local punk scene, will tour with Monsters in fall 2021.
Tickets for the 8 p.m. Stench of Death release party show are $7.
