Charleston seltzer company Volley is teaming up with Surfrider Charleston to host a waterway cleanup near Sullivan’s Island Sat., April 9.
Husband-wife team Camila Soriano and Chris Wirth launched Volley in 2019 as the first clean tequila seltzer. The company emphasizes using high quality ingredients, providing ingredient transparency (the seltzer is made from just three ingredients: 100% blue agave tequila, sparking water and organic juice) and being environmentally conscious.
Last year for Earth Day, Volley partnered with Leave No Trace to send out beach cleanup kits. For 2022, the company wants to bring people together for an organized marsh cleanup along Ben Sawyer Causeway in Mount Pleasant.
Participants will join Surfrider Charleston and Volley during the cleanup from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Volunteers are asked to meet in the parking lot of Durst Family Medicine before the cleanup. Participants over 21 can enjoy a free Volley seltzer at Poe’s Tavern after the event.
Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes that won’t pull off in the mud and clothes that can get dirty. Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
