Last Friday’s pre-festival promotional shindig, the Taste of Spoleto, had a lot of competition for ears and eyes; not only was it Cinco de Mayo, but there was also an Art Walk going on downtown, so freeloaders and mooch-minded culture vultures across the city had their choice of parties to crash. Even so, the event seemed to be a hit — at least with ticket buyers, who cued up in a line that nearly stretched outside for discounts on select tickets. City Paper Scene writer Ida Becker covers it well here.
