Johns Island’s relatively new, buzzy bar and restaurant, Bar Copa, today announced on Instagram that it would be closing on Feb. 1.
“While we are eternally proud of what we created here at Bar Copa, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors for good,” the restaurant wrote . “Our final service will be on Saturday February 1st.”
Bar Copa opened in the fall of 2024. With a focus on cocktails, the spot also offered a variety of small plates, from whipped feta to seasonal crudo.
Just after opening, owner Roderick Groetzinger told the City Paper that he wanted the spot to feel like a house party for guests:
“We love you Johns Island and this is for y’all. Hospitality is a very, very important thing to me. I always say it’s like you’re having a house party, and all you want is for everybody to be impressed with the way it looks, the way it feels. It’s our home and you’re welcome.”
On Instagram, Bar Copa invited guests to celebrate the bar between now and its final day of service.
