Reports taken from Dec. 15 to Jan. 10
Nice try?
Four kids on Dec. 29 allegedly tried to steal an attachable flashlight for a firearm from a West Ashley store. Security stopped the kids before they left, and banned the four of them from the store before pressing theft charges against the one who stuffed the light in his pocket. Whew, when we read “shoplifting from a gun store” we expected much worse.
Classic blunder!
A North Charleston man on Jan. 7 reportedly escaped police custody after a marijuana-related arrest. Police “saturated” the area where he apparently fled the transporting officer. Later, they found him back at the original spot they picked him up. Good one, dude. What was that thing people say about the scene of the crime again?
Just a little peek
A Mount Pleasant woman told town police an Amazon order she received on Dec. 15 appeared to have been tampered with. She said the package and inner box were properly present and sealed, but the $300 sunglasses they were supposed to contain were missing. Good news: You can probably get those replaced. Bad news: It’s probably a little late by now.
Listen to your mom
North Charleston police on Jan. 10 attempted to stop an apparently drunken man walking on West Montague Avenue. The man, however, told officers that, “Mom told me I could leave,” and attempted to walk away. When officers insisted, the man started fighting, including kicking one officer in the groin. So, did your mom tell you to do that, too?
