New tactics

A Mount Pleasant man on Aug. 14 called town police after he received a call from an unknown person threatening to “explode his house” with a bomb. The man told officers he wasn’t too worried about the threat, chalking it up to a prank call or scam. Man, these telemarketers and scammers are getting a little aggressive these days.

The P word

North Charleston police on Aug. 14 responded to a theft from a Rivers Avenue store. But there was a twist in this police report, the officer described the suspect as wearing “a black shirt and blue ants,” and yes, we know he meant “pants.” But cut us some slack — this brings an entirely new meaning to “boys in blue.” North Charleston police, we think we have an idea.

Note to self:

Mount Pleasant police on Aug. 16 pulled over a man for driving without a working passenger-side headlight. But upon investigating, officers found the driver had no insurance, a suspended license and a tag that belonged to a different vehicle. Police had the vehicle towed but only “issued warnings for the plethora of violations.” Note to self: Get pulled over in Mount Pleasant.

Well, yeah

A downtown man on Aug. 11 complained when Charleston police caught him drinking beer from a paper bag on a Meeting Street sidewalk. The man got up, poured the beer onto the ground angrily and said he “keeps getting harassed for drinking.” To be fair, man, that is what happens when you keep breaking the law. The paper bag is never going to fool anyone.
