Reports taken from Sept. 18 to Oct. 15

Feelin’ like fall!
A pumpkin delivery en route to a Mount Pleasant church on Oct. 15 tipped thousands of the orange gourds across Coleman Boulevard near the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. For more than an hour, people swarmed the truck and carried away pumpkins in their arms, baskets and carts, according to reports. Happy Halloween, y’all!
As if we needed this
Charleston police on Sept. 28 responded to a construction site at the Clements Ferry-Interstate 526 extension after a construction vehicle struck a guidewire pole, causing a chain reaction that broke several connected power lines. The lines damaged a vehicle that was driving nearby and closed traffic in both directions. Just one more reason to be upset about all this construction.
‘Daddy’s little girl’
A North Charleston woman on Oct. 7 called police after receiving a mysterious package on her front porch. It contained a “love” letter that she said included several derogatory remarks about her character and described her as a horrible person. The package also contained a necklace engraved with the words “Daddy’s little girl.” Ah, romance.
Poor strategies
A North Charleston man on Oct. 6 attempted to steal “deli food” in plain view of a nearby security officer. The theft led to a foot pursuit with a police officer in the parking lot, two taser deployments and a fist fight (that we think the thief actually kind of won). Eventually, the man was detained, arrested and sent to the hospital for evaluation. His last words: Security was “watching me, so I was going to give them a reason.” Oof.
Fair market value?
A Mount Pleasant man on Oct. 9 allegedly offered a Sessions Way hotel manager $26 to “watch him masturbate,” according to a police report. The offer came in the middle of a “friendly conversation” lasting only about 10 minutes, the manager told officers. The manager said he wanted the man banned from the hotel, but officers were unable to locate him to give him the bad news.
