Local rock-pop duo The Larry David Project hosts the final round of their weekly “Acoustic Playoffs” on Thurs. Aug. 6. The five-week contest concludes at the downtown Wild Wing Café (36 N. Market St., 843-722-9464), presented in part by local rock station 98X and Yuengling.

A Martin D-40 acoustic guitar (worth over $3,000) is the grand prize, and a fancy Epiphone AJ-1 acoustic guitar as the second-place prize. Singer/tabourinist/conga-tapper Larry Strickland and singer/guitarist David Dunning ran the series as an open-mic competition for original songwriters. Contestants were judged every week by the Larry David Project, Wild Wing staffers, and 98X midday jock Nikki.
