We think Eye Level Art is on to something. Yes, al fresco movies are always charming, but throw a young Johnny Depp (before he got too weird) on the big screen with a cool soundtrack from Neil Young, and you’re sure to have an eager audience.
The gallery recently announced the second screening in their Movies on the Green Series this Tuesday, Aug. 4. Theyโll be showing Dead Man in the courtyard of the 103 Gallery.
Jim Jarmuschโs 1995 film stars Johnny Depp as a young man on an adventure-filled journey into the Wild West. Billy Bob Thornton, Gabriel Byrne, Robert Mitchum, and Iggy Pop also make appearances.
โDead Man is an amazing film thatโs accessible to both a more mainstream film-oriented audience โ come on … who doesnโt like Johnny Depp? โ as well as an audience more comfortable with lesser known, more artistic films,โ says Caroline Millard, gallery coordinator at ELA.
The seriesโ first installment, a screening of North by Northwest, drew a crowd of around 70 and plenty of positive feedback, according to Millard.
