The schedule has been released for Charleston Comedy Festival 2011, and tickets are on sale now. The five-night event, co-hosted by Theatre 99 and the Charleston City Paper, has become known for relieving the winter doldrums with silly and scandalous comedy acts from all over the country. If you see someone on the schedule that you absolutely love, snatch up those tickets now, because the hottest shows do sell out early.

The Fest kicks off on Tues. Jan. 18 with the culmination of several monthโ€™s worth of stand up comedy: the Stand Up Competition Finals. Wednesday night features a few great local acts like Hot Pants and Cats Hugging Cats, while the first out-of-towners hit the stage on Thursday. New York stand up comic Nate Baratze, Chicagoโ€™s musical Shock Tโ€™s, and Atlantaโ€™s Tag Journey from the Village Theatre will all make appearances.

Friday and Saturday is when the line-up gets packed, and youโ€™ll have to make some tough choices when organizing your schedule. Youโ€™ll see familiar names like Todd Barry, Einstein Meets Elvis, Kenny Zimlinghaus, and J. Reid along with a whole lotta fresh faces like Chicagoโ€™s hip-hop comedy crew BeatBox, Floridaโ€™s improv/cabaret Screw You Revue, Canada’s 2-Man No-Show, and New Yorkโ€™s โ€œvery rated Rโ€ Murderfist.

Weโ€™ll update you with more info on the various performers as we learn more about them. Until then, check out the CCF website, where you can read about every act on the schedule.
