Chez Fish, the Johns Island-based seafood restaurant and market, has reopened after a three-year hiatus.

Rene Constantin, one of the spotโ€™s previous chefs, has taken over as both owner and head chef. Not being one to mess with success, Constantin decided to keep the name to uphold the restaurantโ€™s reputation and also provide a sense of familiarity.

Most of the spotโ€™s fish comes from Cherry Point Seafood, located on the nearby Wadmalaw Island. Offerings range from a light and flaky flounder to a heartier pecan-encrusted black grouper thatโ€™s pan-seared and served next to rice and julienned vegetables. Constantin also serves up brunch specials on Saturdays and Sundays. Though the selection changes everyday, patrons can expect seafood-tinged breakfast dishes like salmon benedict.

The owner decided to keep the seafood market intact, though it doesnโ€™t boast quite the selection it used to. Regardless, patrons can find a variety of items to take home, including fresh salmon, swordfish, scallops, jumbo shrimp, and eventually, locally grown vegetables. โ€œWeโ€™re hoping to offer a farmerโ€™s market-based selection of items, including organic arugula, tomatoes, green onions, flowers, and more,โ€ restaurant manager Ronnie Vaughn says. Chez Fish is open seven days a week at 3966 Betsy Kerrison Parkway.
