Instrumental trio Medeski, Martin, and Wood drew a full house to their masterclass at Tivoli Studios on King Street on Thursday afternoon. Drummer Billy Martin, keyboardist John Medeski, and bassist Chris Wood treated attendees to an intimate pre-show meet-and-greet and clinic during which they fielded a wide range of questions from the audience and sprinkled in a few spirited jams. Not long after the event wrapped up, the band hit the stage at the Pour House for a sold-out show where eager fans got a full taste of the improvisation and funk-fueled compositions they’re famous for. Martin set up at stage right, flanked by Wood in the middle and Medeski (with his collection of organs and keyboards) at stage left. Here’s some footage from the events.
