Veteran actor and director Kevin Costner likes to play a bit of music on the side. In 2008, when he was in the Charleston area working on a thriller titled The New Daughter, he made time for a gig at the Music Farm with his country-rock band, Modern West, a project that began as a collaboration between Costner and actor/musician John Coinman.

The band has performed in Europe, Asia, Canada, South America, and across the U.S. โ€œI always thought that music could build a stronger, more personal moment with people,โ€ Costner says in a recent press release. โ€œIt could create an opportunity for genuine exchange much greater than a movie, TV interview, or magazine. It would be real, full of mistakes, and without apology. But most of all, there would be a chance to have some fun.โ€

This month, Costner and company will kick off an extensive tour of the East Coast and return to the Music Farm on Sun. April 1. Advance tickets are available for $30. Visit kevincostnermodernwest.com and musicfarm.com for more.
