- Alice Cooper, 2012
Ghoulish singer and Rock โnโ Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper will lead his No More Mr. Nice Guy World Tour 2012 to the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on Mon. June 11.
Cooperโs musical career began more than 40 years ago. His big hits include โSchoolโs Out,โ โNo More Mr. Nice Guy,โ โElected,โ and โIโm Eighteen.โ Heโs credited with creating the concept of the theatrical rock concert in the early 1970s with elaborate (and often disturbing) stagecraft, macabre special effects, and colorful showmanship.
Many fans and critics refer to his style as “shock rock” or โrock horrorโ in reference to his monster imagery, guillotines, decapitations, snakes, and heavy guitar riffs.
Cooper brings his whole show to the Bonnaroo Festival on June 9 before joining British metal band Iron Maiden on a summer tour of North America, which includes shows at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Charlotte. N.C. on June 21 and Aaronโs Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta, Ga., on June 23.
Cooperโs latest album, 2011โs Welcome 2 My Nightmare, is a sequel to 1975โs Welcome to My Nightmare. Tickets for the show go on sale for $55, $45, and $35 on Fri. March 16 at the Coliseum box office, ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets, and by phone at (800) 745-3000.
