In 2002, Goodwill celebrated its 100th anniversary in Milwaukee, Wis. The nonprofit organization sells donated goods in more than 2,000 stores and online at www.shopgoodwill.com, an auction website. Goodwill directs 83 percent of their total revenue into career services, education, and other needed community programs.
Donation Dos:
• Wash or dry-clean clothing
• Test electrical equipment and battery-operated items
• Include all pieces and parts to children’s games and toys
• Check with your local Goodwill Industries agency to determine standards for donating computers and vehicles
Donation Don’ts:
• Leave items unattended outside a collection center
• Donate broken or soiled items
