New polling numbers released by the Elizabeth Colbert Busch campaign on Monday show the Democrat with a narrow lead over Republican runoff candidates Mark Sanford and Curtis Bostic a day before GOP voters prepare to head to the polls in the 1st District runoff.

In a poll of 500 likely voters by Washington, D.C.-based Lake Research Partners between March 25-27, Mark Sanford trailed Democrat Colbert Busch by nine points, while Bostic sat nine points behind his would-be general election opponent.

The Colbert Busch-commissioned poll comes a week after Public Policy Polling released an independent survey also showing her with a slight advantage over Sanford, but polling even with Bostic, who was coming off a second-place finish in the special primary.

Full results of the poll were not made available, but in a summary released by the campaign, Lake Research says the campaign will remain “very close and competitive no matter whom the Republican victor is on Tuesday.” Lake Research Partners is a prominent national polling firm known for its work with Democratic campaigns.
