I wish I could start every week like I did this one — at the Air Guitar Competition at The Upper Deck. A lot of interesting characters showed up on Wednesday, and the competition was fun, despite the venue’s usual lack of air conditioning. I wasn’t at all prepared for the men in red dresses with pink wigs, or the heavy metal psycho scene, but it was awesome. On Friday night, a large crowd showed up at 52.5 Records to check out the Art or Advertisement? music poster display and listen to the Subterranean Bleu Mind(s). 52.5 is a fun place to be because of its great vibe, quirky gifts, amazing record selection, and, on occasions like this, great live music. On Saturday night, I attended the much-anticipated Playboy Mansion Party on James Island. Hef and a lot of bunnies made an appearance and my friends proved once again that they throw the best theme parties in town. On Sunday night, I went to Daily Dose on James Island for the Jef Jel fundraiser to benefit struggling communities in Senegal, West Africa. I went to Clemson for the FSU game on Monday and had a great time. All of you Gamecocks can eat your heart out.
