Every Wednesday morning, I roll out of bed, throw on a pot of coffee, and change the City Paper’s Facebook profile picture and cover photo. In the past year, we’ve had bugs, beer, clowns, and camgirls on the cover, but none of those issues have generated quite the reaction as this week’s cover photo by Jonathan Boncek.

After sitting on the Facebook for six hours, the image has generated about 100 comments and turned up a fair number of Twitter observers. Curiously, the story itself— a nice article by Managing Editor Kinsey Gidick about folks who’ve eaten more than their fair share of raccoons and squirrels — has just one at this point. The comments on Facebook range from all-caps outrage to flippant dismissal, but not much in between.

What do you think? Take the poll below, sound off in the comments, tweet at us. But most of all, read through Kinsey’s story. It’s an interesting look at a cuisine that not many of us get a taste of.

And for the record, the raccoon was donated to us to be used by taxidermy artist Becca Barnet. Thanks, Becca.
