Following last week’s news that barbecue maven Rodney Scott will be setting up shop in Charleston, now comes the effort to transform the former Chick’s Fry House into a pork-lover’s paradise.

Set to go before the city’s Board of Architectural Review this week for final approval are plans to construct a sizable barbecue pit behind the former hot-chicken hangout at 1011 King St. Proposed sight plans of the new addition show the pit area could account for one-third of the eatery’s size and serve as a fitting home for Scott to go whole hog.

While plans for the latest addition to the area’s growing number of high-profile barbecue joints still await final approval, just let this be another reminder that this is all really happening.
