A few weeks ago, we spotted dynamic duo Shovels & Rope leaders Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent pitching in at Commonhouse Aleworks in Park Circle with the brewery teasing an upcoming collaboration brew.
[content-1] This week, Commonhouse’s Hank Hanna announced the result of the project, an easy-drinking lager called Swimmin’ Time, named for the band’s most recent album. Hanna says he thought of the idea of working with ShoRo while at High Water Festival at Riverfront Park, a stone’s throw from the brewery.
The project will also benefit Metanoia, a North Charleston economic development non-profit that advocates for affordable housing, community business growth, education, and job training in the area.
“We are glad that each time their patrons sit down with one of these drinks to build community, they will also be supporting us in building community through youth programming, housing development and economic development,” said Metanoia CEO Bill Stanfield in a press release this week.
Swimmin’ Time Lowcountry Lager will be released in cans and on draft at the brewery on Oct. 26. The brew will also be available at the band’s sold out Royal American parking lot show the following day and another low-key performance at Pour House on Sun. Oct. 28.
