The Pogues and Kooks returned for the much-anticipated season two of their Netflix show, Outer Banks, which dropped July 30. Within a few days, the teen class-warfare drama partially filmed in Charleston has already topped the charts, hitting No 1. on Netflix in the U.S.
Season one of the show also spent time in the top spot last year after its debut.
Season one captured the attention of millions when it began streaming during the height of quarantine in April 2020, giving viewers a new show to binge and a taste of normality in strange times. But, the hype around the show, which follows the lives of a group of teenagers growing up in the North Carolina Outer Banks hasn’t died down.
The crew spent four months filming season two throughout the Charleston area, making it a little extra fun for locals to watch and spot recognizable sights, like Mount Pleasant’s Shem Creek and Old Village along with various shots of downtown’s South of Broad and French Quarter neighborhoods.
