Did Jesus get married and have a child? The evidence doesn’t support it. As The Da Vinci Code director Ron Howard honestly points out, this is a fictional story. But it is not enough to just point our finger at the other person’s beliefs. We should also be honest in asking which of our religious beliefs are supported by the evidence. An honest appraisal of one’s thinking and actions can make them more meaningful. It is good that people are thinking about and questioning the beliefs of The Da Vinci Code. The more we take responsibility for our thinking instead of just believing what we are told to believe, the more meaningful our lives can be.

In South Carolina we have elected a senator who claims to be a Republican, but Lindsey Graham is about as Republican as Ted Kennedy or Jane Fonda when it comes to amnesty. Mr. Graham claims his numbers are as good as ever in our state, but his amnesty views may hurt him more than he thinks come election time. It’s hard to understand how any American, Republican or Democrat, could condone illegal behavior such as document fraud (a felony) and obtaining social services when you are not eligible for such services (fraud/stealing). These are crimes that hurt American citizens committed by people that have no right to be here. Crimes like these would land any American citizen in jail. It seems Mr. Graham has little regard for the well being of his “native” population and he seems much too quick to turn a blind eye and forgive the crimes that have turned so many American lives upside down. In recorded history never has this state and its people been so ill-represented as it is with Lindsey Graham! I have lost any confidence and all respect for Lindsey Graham, I am ashamed that he holds office in my state, and I hope to see this change as soon as possible.
