Last week started with a downer — a going away party for Jessica Chase, Charleston’s very own triple threat. She had a morning radio show on 98X, a regular comedy gig at Theatre 99, and a weekly column in these pages. Last Wednesday, her friends gathered at Theatre 99 for an appropriately raucous send-off as she makes her way to Kansas City. We’ll keep her column going for at least a few more weeks so we can see how she settles into her new life. It’ll make her absence a little easier to bear. On Thursday, the Art Institute gave a hard hat tour and showed off their progress. They’ll be starting classes in April. The weekend was taken up by Super Bowl parties and a VH1 Classic-themed birthday party for local artist Karin Olah, who asked guests to come dressed as an ’80s hit song. Don’t you want me baby, anyone?
