Havens Fine Framing

Mt. Pleasant. 1070 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. 881-1543

After watching his father, Robert Havens, open the first Havens Fine Framing in Columbia in 1968, Brent Havens (along with the rest of the Havens clan) knew it was destiny that led the family to the oft-overlooked, thoroughly skilled art of picture framing. In 1980, Brent and his wife Nancy Havens headed to Mt. Pleasant and opened their first location — they’ve expanded twice since — with the goal of offering the Lowcountry the same broad spectrum of framing choices and knowledgeable employees that Robert Havens first embodied in the midstate. Judging from the over 6,000 frame samples that line the walls of the 5,600-square-foot store, it’s not hard to see why City Paper readers have chosen Havens as the Best Frame Shop each year since the category was added in 2004. While there’s plenty of versions of the traditional basic black, gold, silver, and wooden frames, there’s also artfully distressed frames in every color of the rainbow, light blue frames with little silver frogs on them, and frames covered in rusty old bottlecaps. Sound overwhelming? Even if you don’t have time to visit the showroom and consult with an expert, Havens will send one to your home or office for a personal consultation. Now that’s award-winning service.
